and so it goes

He got all of her,
except the innermost box and the kiss.
He never knew about the box,
and in time he gave up trying for the kiss.

And unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given...

<><><><><><><>

Oh, come, our Dayspring from on high,
And cheer us by your drawing nigh,
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!

Oh, come, Desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Oh, bid our sad divisions cease,
And be yourself our King of Peace.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!

p.s. Merry Christmas to all.

The Stuff of Childhood || Thumbelina

Over the holiday break, while spending time with loved ones, I had a chance to relive my young childhood by re-watching the animated tale of Thumbelina.
And yes, I did spend the whole rest of the day sneaking up and singing "Let Me Be Your Wings" in many a family member's ear.
I challenge anyone to watch said movie with out doing the same at least once.

Here are a few stills I caught just for funnzies.
Enjoy the artsy, grainy, kitchy mess:

Beauty Great and Terrible

{ via }

Beauty is mysterious as well as terrible.
God and devil are fighting there, and the battlefield is the heart of man.

Moving On

The Election is finally over, a reason to celebrate in itself.
May the President take seriously the trust America now puts in him.
Because America will elect only who it deserves.
God bless America.

Buster Keaton ~ I Fell In Love With Melancholy

Ladies and Gents!
Another name to be added to my "Childhood Crushes" list:

<><> Buster Keaton <><>

Do we love him because he's awkward?
Or is he awkward because we love him?

I am not as privy to Mr. Keaton's film career as I would like to be,
but that is something I hope to remedy soon.
So while you're here, enjoy these snapshots/film snippets of the great comic himself.

Ah-door-a-bull...

Cheeky. ;}

We've all been there...

It cannot be denied. The man has great hair.

Forever the underdog.

How lucky we are for his bad luck! ^-^

What a sad, strange little man...

Master of Comedy

Master of Pathos

What a beautiful, melancholy mess.

That famous mope...

 ...In all its manifestations...

...Plays well on the heartstrings.

That such an odd man...

...Could be loved by so many...

...Gives hope to the beautiful weirdo in all of us. ^-^

We love you for you are us...

...And we always and forever will.

Favorite Couples - Part IV || Bogart & Bacall

Shocking though it may seem, I am actually a new convert to the Humphrey Bogart/Lauren Becall fan camp.
However, the first time I saw "The Big Sleep" I was sold.
The Hollywood Couple. All others are pretenders.

So much class, I think I'm blushing.

Favorite Couples Part III || Walter & Hildy

One of my Top 10 favorite films, His Girl Friday is nothing without
the dynamic duo that is Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell.

The banter...oh my, the banter...
So many wisecracks, puns, and insinuations zing by whenever they start at
each other; their dysfunctional relationship is a riot to watch.

A few stills to illustrate their passionate relationship...^-^

Walter Burns: There's been a lamp burning in the window for ya, honey... here.
Hildy Johnson: Oh, I jumped out that window a long time ago.

Favorite Couples Part II || Loy & Powell

 Myrna Loy & William Powell

Appearing in a total of 14 films together, Myrna Loy and William Powell are my definition of onscreen chemistry. They always seemed like old chums having way too much fun in every scene they shared. Witty, charming, mischievous; they make domesticity look like the greatest thing since sliced bread. Enjoy their adorable hooliganism below:

Aren't they darling?
Unfortunately all that mushy make-believe in Hollywood never sparked anything in really life for the comical duo. And what a shame too because their decedents would have been quite fabulous. ;)

Parts III and IV coming soon!
