I see a room.
It is dark and filled with dusty old books and things many have long forgotten. The only light I see is that which comes from a large and lonely window. But it is raining outside, so the room remains in shadow. In front of the window I see an worn piano.
At it a small girl sits.
Playing.
Her dress is white and plain. Her hair dark and long. And if we listen closely we can hear her song as her fingers pass silently over the stained keys. The melody is haunting. Timidly she raises her eyes, looking out of the window into the rain....she is looking for something.
Searching.
But we see only the rain falling softly to the earth.....but wait. Someone is outside. The little girl sees but does not stir. She continues to play. We look closer. No, that can not be, it is not possible. Outside of the window, twirling in the rain, is the little girl. The very same one who is at the same time inside, playing. How can this be? Oh, but look; the little girl outside is laughing. Her hands are stretched high above her head and it seems as if she is reaching out to something, someone.
She is dancing.
Her joy is evident. But she stops. She has seen the window. She smiles softly and beckons to the small girl inside to join her. But she only turns away, still playing the hollow tune. And as she does the little girl outside slowly fades....and is gone.
The song plays on.
But look, what is this? Rain drops on the keys? How did they come to be there? The little girl does not seem to notice for she does not cease. A silent tear steals down her pale cheek and there, it has fallen to the piano. Her hand slips. A note is struck. Her song ends.
And she is alone.

So...friends...
I can call you friend right? I'm not being too presumptuous (presumptuous...good word. Sounds tasty. *smile*)?
I dearly hope not...
So anyway friends, I have some thrilling things to tell you about today.
Excited?
Yes. Yes, I can see it on your face: You really want to know.
Well, the truth is that right now as I type I've decided it's better *not* to tell you. At least not yet. It's a delicate subject and I see now is not the best time to bring it up. But do not be down-trodden comrades, you will soon know all (there is to know about this particular subject) soon enough.
I look only for the right moment to share...
Ta-ta for now! *wink*

Dance with Me?

Look at me?
Oh please just look my way.
You come in late and sit, now I wish you'd always stay.
My heart pulls in your direction, ignoring does no good
So I ask you to a dance, tho I doubt you ever would.
Mischief dances in your eyes as you stare into my own,
Look at me...and show me love I've never known
Dance with me?
While we share this festive night.
Lead me to the dance floor, music our only time.
I've known you just for moments, now forever's on my mind
As the stars take forms of fireflies, the swirling twirling kind.
Your eyes look so piercing, I'm afraid to stare too close.
But won't you dance with me...before the sun becomes our host.
Walk with me?
Down this path I've never been.
Swear I'm the only girl and I'll tease of other men.
Take me in your arms and steal a kiss when no one sees,
Promise to protect me as you scare away the bees.
Murmur soft and low while tucking flowers in my hair,
Won't you walk with me...while we're young, and gay, and fair.
Vow with me?
In this Church beneath the trees.
I walk between our families, yet it's only you I see.
Take my hand in yours, and raise it to your lips,
Preachers says that's cheating for it's not yet time to kiss.
Smiling a wicked smile you'll say you've tasted it before.
Won't you vow with me..."for richer or for poor".
Strive with me?
As we face this world together.
If I cry when baby grows, swear I'm lite as a feather.
Share with me your nightmares so I'll tell you of my fears,
Laugh and tell me "it's ok" when I cover you in tears.
I don't care about the jewelry, tell me secrets in their stead.
Will you strive with me...'til the earth becomes our bed.
Sit with me?
When it's all that's left to do
Since the day the children left, I saw you crying too.
Our voices getting soft and our gray is showing stronger,
I worry when you hurt, you joke "We don't got much longer".
Our lives now slow but meaningful, our love that hasn't waned
Please sit with me...and call me lovely once again.
Stay with me?
As my eyes blur with the these tears.
You lie so still and quiet as you talk about our years.
How you fell in love with me the day I asked you for a dance,
My laugh had sealed your fate; "You didn't give me much of a chance".
You wink then murmur softly of my pretty braided hair...
Oh please...please just stay with me...I need you more than I can bare.
Look at me?
Please just touch me one last time?
Hold me in your arm and tell me that you're mine.
Cover me in kisses 'fore the earth can cover you.
Brush away these tears just like you always used to do.
Gaze into my eyes as you twirl me 'round these stones.
Because, since before that day you looked, I've never been so alone.

For any of you crazies out there who have nothing better to do, here is my Writers Cafe page featuring some of my latest endeavors. If I can even do this thing-a-ma-jig right.
You know, technology...it just isn't my thing *shrug*.

Lovelier still...

Lovely...
Lovely...?
A teal feathered bird, shimmering in the glow of the morning sun.
Gold and green sheen...the colors tease the light.
It's long neck dipping gracefully; up and down, up and down.
It prances on it's perch, gilded gold all around, up and down, up and down.
Framed by twirling wire, intricately wrapped.
Tenderly embraced by cool dripping ivy.
Crowned with tiny Rose buds, curling their delicate leaves even in sleep.
The jewel-toned wings shiver within the gilded dome.
A prisoner to beauty because of it's own.
Lovely...
Lovely...?
The breeze dancing with sheer satin curtains, exposing a pale marble balcony.
Strong thick pillars encircling...
Sunshine lit petals float through the gaps, falling soft on the stone.
To die here at last, a tribute to beauty.
So like the song of a teal feathered bird
Wrapped in a dome
Twisted in gold.
Near to the curtains, it's coo echos thru halls...
The delicate tune haunts the soul.
Lovely...
Lovely...?
A bed lies in pillar striped shadows,
Warm rays reaching out to warm the cold cushions.
Swollen in satin, lavished by lace, swimming in silk,
Beaded, embroidered, perfumed...
Jewel tones and Earth tones and Sky tones and Star tones,
The colors colliding around a still figure...alone...
A girl...sunlight unlocks the secrets of her face.
Her lips parted slightly, her breathing, she tastes morning air.
Her eyes shut, lashes quiver lightly on her cheek pale pink.
Her hair spills across her face, her closed eyes turned blind to the balcony.
The breeze blows the petals through the curtains, singing to those inside,
The petals waltz across the room, softly kissing all they touch.
A teal tinted feather swirls above her head and lands in her hair.
Liquid eyes open, blinking in the light.
Gilded gold all around.
Lovely...
Lovely...?
Her slender fingers close around the velvet down.
Twirling the feather against her lips, she smiles.
A smile drowned in sorrow...her eyes sing of tears.
A teal feathered bird stares from it's chamber,
Watching the strange creature that lies,
Always covered in its own strange plumage; beaded and sown.
But today it moves...flight on it's mind?
Her feet feel lightly for the frozen floor.
Trembling she moves across an icy Mosaic that graces the ground.
Towards the bird, towards the breeze, towards the sun.
Towards life.
To freedom.
Grasping the cage, gilded and golden, she tears at the ivy,
Thorns cut at her flesh.
She sweeps past the curtains, stained in her hurry,
Parting the petals that wait there, to die.
Lovely...
Lovely.
She leans on a pillar and opens the cage that has long held them both,
Now granting release from a life lived imprisoned.
The teal colored bird coos in it freedom,
It bows it's neck, golden green,
joy and sadness mingles in its song
She hums along...
Tucking a bloodied teal feather in her hair braided.
Wings and finger stretch, hair and feathers stir, eyes stare...set.
Lovely is the vision of a bird that soars towards the sun.
Up and down, up and down,
But the bird doesn't fly alone...
...We witness the flight of a once captive soul.
